Darius Bazley delivered a stellar performance, scoring 27 points to guide the Los Angeles Lakers to a nail-biting 89-88 victory over the San Antonio Spurs at Chase Center during the California Classic on Tuesday.
The match started off competitively, with the Spurs leading by five points at halftime. They maintained their advantage into the third quarter, but the Lakers surged in the final period, highlighted by a pivotal putback dunk from Bazley that sealed the one-point triumph.
By halftime, the Lakers had three players scoring in double figures, led by Bazley with 13 points from an efficient 4-of-5 shooting, which included a perfect 1-of-1 from three-point range. Cole Swider contributed 11 points, while Dalton Knecht added 10.
Bazley concluded the game with an impressive shooting line of 8-of-10 from the floor and 10-of-12 from the free-throw line. He also showcased his all-around skills with 13 rebounds, two assists, and one block over 25 minutes on the court. Knecht excelled in the second half, finishing with 25 points on 9-of-18 shooting. Swider ended the game with 15 points, along with four rebounds, one assist, two steals, and two blocks.
On the Spurs’ side, David Jones Garcia was the standout performer, netting 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting, while also grabbing six rebounds and dishing out five assists. Osayi Osifo contributed six points, seven rebounds, and a block, and Carter Bryant recorded nine points, three rebounds, and two blocks.
Both teams will be back in action on Thursday in Las Vegas, with the Lakers set to take on the Mavericks and the Spurs facing the 76ers.
