Devin Booker Seals Phoenix Future with $145M Extension as Franchise Cornerstone Amidst Team Changes

With Kevin Durant’s exit from the Phoenix Suns, Devin Booker is set to reclaim his role as the franchise’s centerpiece. It’s only logical that the team would look to extend his contract, and that’s precisely what they are doing.

As reported by Shams Charania of ESPN, the 28-year-old basketball star has finalized a two-year maximum extension worth $145 million with the Suns, ensuring his presence in the city for over ten more years.

Drafted as the 13th overall pick by Phoenix, this marks Booker’s third contract extension with the organization, solidifying his commitment to the Suns as they aim to regain their competitiveness for the NBA Championship. He reached the NBA Finals in 2021 but fell short against the Milwaukee Bucks.

After finishing the 2024-25 NBA season with a disappointing record of 36-46, the Suns failed to secure a spot in the Western Conference playoffs, prompting significant changes following Durant’s departure.

Despite the team’s lackluster performance, Devin Booker managed to maintain impressive statistics, averaging 25.6 points per game—ranking him 9th in the entire league—alongside 4.1 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game.

Throughout his career, he has also represented the United States on the international stage, bringing home two gold medals from the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.
