The increased depth of the Denver Nuggets’ roster certainly enhances their chances of securing a championship, while also addressing Nikola Jokić’s remarks at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. This enhancement works both ways, as new players like Cam Johnson and Tim Hardaway Jr. are eager to join forces with the Joker instead of competing against him.
In a light-hearted segment on The Young Man and The Three, the Nuggets’ newcomers candidly expressed their excitement about teaming up with Jokić when host Tommy Alter posed the question. Johnson and Hardaway shared a laugh, appearing visibly relieved at the prospect.
“Honestly, a significant factor is that we no longer have to face him as an opponent,” said the 29-year-old combo forward, with the 33-year-old swingman agreeing, “Because he’s a challenge. He’s just a challenge. That’s all there is to it.”
“He can distribute, rebound, and score. You never know what to expect from him on any given day or what mode he’ll be in,” he added, praising the Serbian superstar.
The former champion and 2023 Finals MVP was open about the depth issue faced by the Nuggets in comparison to other title contenders, especially after their defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2025 NBA Playoffs’ Western Conference Semifinals.
Johnson joined the squad through a trade with the Brooklyn Nets, with the Nuggets parting ways with Michael Porter Jr. and a first-round pick in 2032 to bring in this seasoned player who has logged 378 games in the NBA.
Meanwhile, Hardaway, a free-agent signing who previously played alongside Slovenian superstar Luka Dončić with the Dallas Mavericks, boasts a wealth of experience with 861 appearances in the league.
