Myles Turner has faced numerous challenging encounters with Giannis Antetokounmpo on the court, but now he’s relieved that those confrontations will now be limited to practice sessions following his transfer to the Milwaukee Bucks.
“I was fed up with constantly absorbing those damn shoulders and elbows,” Turner remarked to reporters during a joint press conference with Bucks coach Doc Rivers and general manager Jon Horst at the Las Vegas Summer League.
He expressed admiration for Antetokounmpo, eagerly anticipating a collaborative partnership on the hardwood.
“It’s a rare opportunity to play alongside him,” Turner noted. “He’s a once-in-a-generation talent, arguably one of the finest to ever grace this sport. I have no doubt we’ll have discussions in the upcoming weeks. I’ve gone head-to-head with Giannis for a while, so I’m well-acquainted with his style and capabilities. I see us complementing each other seamlessly. He can push the tempo, run in transition, and create opportunities for teammates. His shooting has improved, and defensively, he brings essential qualities. I think our synergy will be quite strong.”
The Bucks secured Turner from the free-agent market, marking one of the most significant signings of the 2025 NBA offseason. The 29-year-old center inked a four-year, $107 million deal to join the franchise.
“I look at this roster and recognize the caliber of these players I’ve faced before,” Turner added. “There’s a respect for how they approach their craft. There’s a reason these guys are here. Gary Trent recently signed. Bobby Portis just joined. Taurean Prince signed on as well. Ryan Rollins is also new to the team. Everyone perceives the vision clearly. They didn’t sign up for nothing. I believe there’s a genuine faith in this organization, and I want to be a part of that.”
