Jackson has secured his contract through the 2029-30 season following a renegotiation that updated the final year of his existing agreement and increased his salary to $33 million for the upcoming season. His extension will take effect in the 2026-27 season, beginning with a salary of $46.2 million.
The agreement was finalized two weeks ago, but the Grizzlies first needed to create the necessary salary cap space for Jackson to officially sign. Last season, he played 74 games for the Grizzlies, averaging 22.2 points and 5.6 rebounds, and was selected as an All-Star for the second time in his career with the team.
A three-time member of the All-Defensive team and the 2023 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Jackson has a career average of 18.5 points and 5.5 rebounds over 407 games with Memphis.
Earlier this month, Jackson underwent surgery to address a turf toe injury and is expected to be re-evaluated around the start of training camp this fall. However, the Grizzlies have not provided any updates regarding the duration of his recovery. The injury occurred in his right foot during offseason basketball activities, as reported by the team, which anticipates a full recovery for him.
Retaining Jackson is a key component of Memphis’s strategy to continue developing their roster around him and star point guard Ja Morant. In April, the team was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the eventual champions, Oklahoma City.
