Alex Sarr set a Summer League record by blocking eight shots while also achieving a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds, leading the Washington Wizards to a 102-96 victory over the Brooklyn Nets at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Reflecting on his team’s performance, the 20-year-old center from France said, “I believe we approached the second game with the proper mindset. We maintained our intensity for all four quarters, and I’m pleased we came away with the win.” This victory improved the Wizards’ Summer League record to 1-1.
Drafted second overall by the Wizards in the 2024 draft, Sarr averaged 13.0 points per game during his 67 appearances in the regular season of 2024-25.
On the losing side, Drew Timme scored 30 points for the Nets, while Egor Demin from Russia contributed 12 points. French players Nolan Traore and Ben Saraf from Israel each added seven points, and Danny Wolf, also from Israel, recorded five points along with ten rebounds.
Attending the game was Olympiacos head coach Giorgos Bartzokas, who watched Nikola Djurisic score 16 points as the Atlanta Hawks triumphed over the Phoenix Suns, 98-80, in Pavilion.
A number of European talents were on the court Sunday, including Germans Tristan da Silva and Ariel Hukporti, French players Noah Penda and Leopold Delaunay, Swedes Pelle Larsson and Bobi Klintman, Lithuanians Kasparas Jakucionis, Serbians Bogoljub Markovic, Swiss Yanic Niederhauser, and Slovenians Luka Scuka.
In unfortunate news, French player Pacome Dadiet had to leave early for the New York Knicks due to discomfort in his left foot.
