76ers Paul George Undergoes Knee Surgery, Faces Long Road to Recovery Ahead of Training Camp

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Paul George, a forward for the Philadelphia 76ers, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Monday to address an injury sustained during a recent training session.

The team announced that the procedure was carried out by Dr. Jonathan L. Glashow at the NYU-Langone Sports Medicine Orthopedic Center.

George’s rehabilitation process will commence shortly, and he is scheduled to be reassessed before the onset of training camp, as stated by the Sixers.

This upcoming NBA season marks George’s 16th in the league, following his selection as the 10th overall pick by Indiana in the 2010 draft after his tenure at Fresno State.

Having celebrated his 35th birthday on May 2, George signed a lucrative four-year contract worth $212 million during free agency last summer. However, his inaugural season in Philadelphia was plagued by knee and adductor issues, resulting in one of the least productive years of his professional career.

He averaged just 16.2 points over 41 games, marking his lowest scoring average in a full season since he recorded 12.1 points during his second season with Indiana.

Throughout his career, the nine-time NBA All-Star has maintained a scoring average of 20.6 points across 908 games.
