Bradley Beal Teams Up with LA Clippers After Suns Buyout: A New Chapter Begins for the NBA Star

Veteran guard Bradley Beal has reportedly reached an agreement for a contract buyout with the Phoenix Suns, making him a free agent. The Suns are anticipated to file waivers on Beal, who plans to sign a two-year, $11 million contract with the LA Clippers that includes a player option, as reported by Shams Charania of ESPN.

As part of this arrangement, Beal is set to forfeit $13.9 million of the $110 million remaining on his contract with the Suns, providing the team with increased flexibility in their efforts to rebuild their lineup.

The three-time NBA All-Star was acquired by the Suns prior to the 2023-24 season after dedicating his entire career to the Washington Wizards. Despite boasting what was deemed the most expensive roster in the league, which featured All-Stars Beal, Kevin Durant, and Devin Booker, the Suns ended the previous season with a disappointing 36-46 record.

This summer has been quite eventful for the Suns, who also traded Durant to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and the No. 10 pick in this year’s draft, which was utilized to select Duke center Khaman Maluach.

At 32 years old, Beal will join a seasoned Clippers squad that features James Harden and Kawhi Leonard. He posted an average of 17.6 points during two challenging, injury-plagued seasons with the Suns.

Beal achieved a career-high average of 31.3 points per game in the 2020-21 campaign with the Wizards, but his performance has gradually declined since then due to ongoing injury issues, leading him to miss at least 29 regular-season games due to various injuries in each of the past four seasons.
