CLEVELAND (AP)— Cavaliers forward Max Strus is anticipated to be sidelined for at least the first month of the upcoming season following surgery on his fractured left foot, which took place on Tuesday.

According to the Cavaliers, Strus sustained a Jones fracture — an injury affecting the bone linking the pinkie toe to the foot’s base — while training in the offseason. Dr. David Porter performed the operation at Forte Sports Medicine and Orthopedics in Indianapolis, with input from team physician Dr. James Rosneck.

The Cavaliers have indicated that Strus is likely to begin basketball activities again in three to four months.

Last season, Strus averaged 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists over 50 games, including 37 starts, contributing significantly to the Cavaliers’ first-place finish in the Eastern Conference.
