Thanasis Antetokounmpo is poised to make his return to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Following surgery late in the 2023-24 season, the 33-year-old forward missed the entire 2024-25 season but has since rejoined the Greek national team. He is currently competing at EuroBasket 2025 under the leadership of Vassilis Spanoulis.

The announcement of his return to the Bucks was made through the official X account of Thanalysis Show on Sunday.

Later, ESPN senior insider Shams Charania reported that Thanasis has signed a one-year, fully guaranteed contract worth $2.9 million.

In his first official games since being medically cleared, the Athens native has played a crucial role in helping Greece achieve three consecutive victories in Group C of the EuroBasket preliminary round, averaging 3.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 1.0 assists, and 0.3 blocks per game. His statistics reflect his contributions at both ends of the court, bringing his distinctive energy to Greece’s aspirations for success in the international tournament.

Previously part of the Bucks from 2019 to 2024, where he celebrated an NBA championship in 2021, the skilled and versatile forward now reunites with his brother Giannis, the team’s star player.
