Wembanyama Launches Initiative to Form San Antonio Spurs’ Dynamic Ultras Supporter Group

Victor Wembanyama is excited to greet energized fans during home games for the San Antonio Spurs at the Frost Bank Center.

On Tuesday, the Spurs unveiled their plans for tryouts featuring Wemby this Sunday, inviting individuals to register to become “the loudest, most proud, and most passionate crew” in a special section dedicated to supporters.

“This has been an idea, and now it’s transformed into a project,” stated the 21-year-old French center. He aims to enhance the home-court advantage for the Spurs, inspired by fans from his native France and supporters around the globe.

“I firmly believe that if this group of ultra fans reaches its maximum potential, it will undoubtedly contribute to our victories in the future,” he remarked. “With 41 regular season home games this year, there are 41 chances for them to energize us in the fourth quarter and provide that extra boost that can lead to success.”

This new assembly of Spurs supporters is anticipated to engage in chants and contribute to the atmosphere significantly, with a specific name to be established following the tryouts and selection process.

Having played 117 games in the NBA, Wembanyama has been medically cleared to participate in the upcoming training camp and the 2025-26 Regular Season. This comes after a season-ending illness and a premature conclusion to his 2024-25 season, which also excluded him from EuroBasket 2025. The top pick from the 2023 draft averaged 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks per game over the course of last season’s 46 games.
