LeBron James might be poised to embark on what could be his final season in the NBA, yet this doesn’t signify the end of his overall basketball journey.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst has suggested that LeBron might extend his playing career beyond the NBA, potentially participating in a different type of championship. During a recent episode of The Hoop Collective podcast, Windhorst remarked, “I keep hearing people say, ‘this could be his last year.’ However, he has been rumored to possibly engage with other leagues. Who knows? But if he maintains his health, I struggle to imagine LeBron James slowing down anytime soon.”
This reference to an “alternative league” does not imply that James is planning to transition to Europe or another international destination. The NBA’s all-time leading scorer is reportedly exploring the creation of a new global league, alongside his long-term business partner Maverick Carter. This summer, the duo met with Misko Raznatovic, the agent for Nikola Jokic and a prominent figure in the EuroLeague player representation, which has further fueled these rumors.
LeBron may be interested in not only supporting this new league from a business angle but also contributing as a player on the court.
