LeBron James might be gearing up for his final season in the NBA, but it doesn’t necessarily signal the end of his professional basketball journey.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst suggests that LeBron could venture beyond the NBA and engage in another type of championship competition. During a recent episode of The Hoop Collective podcast, he commented on the chatter surrounding LeBron’s potential retirement: “I keep hearing people say, ‘this could be his last year’. He has been associated with the possibility of playing in different leagues,” Windhorst noted. “I’m not sure, but if he maintains his health, I believe LeBron James will continue to perform at a high level.”
The “different league” in question does not imply that James is planning to relocate to Europe or another international venue. The NBA’s leading scorer is reportedly considering the establishment of a new international league, in collaboration with his long-time business associate, Maverick Carter. This summer, the duo met with Misko Raznatovic, agent for Nikola Jokic and a prominent figure in EuroLeague representation, which has fueled further speculation regarding this initiative.
LeBron may be looking to enhance this new league not only from a business perspective but also by actively participating on the court as a player.
