Aaron Gordon is recognized as one of the most dependable teammates for Serbian superstar Nikola Jokic on the Denver Nuggets roster. During an appearance on ESPN’s NBA Today, coinciding with his 30th birthday on Tuesday, the American power forward shared his thoughts on playing alongside the Joker.
“He’s incredible,” Gordon expressed, echoing a sentiment commonly shared by Jokic’s teammates. “Having the opportunity to play with one of the greatest players, if not the greatest of all time, is special. The impact that Joker has is remarkable…”
“I believe there’s a strong understanding between us both on and off the court,” Gordon continued, hinting at what fans can expect as they approach the 2025-26 season.
In the middle of the 2020-21 season, the San Jose native was acquired by the Nuggets in a trade with the Orlando Magic. His collaboration with Jokic took center stage during their championship run in the 2022-23 season, showcasing dynamic plays born from the creativity of the three-time NBA Most Valuable Player and 2023 Finals MVP.
With the offseason additions of Lithuanian center Jonas Valanciunas and Cameron Johnson through trades, a reunion with Bruce Brown, along with further summer acquisitions of Tim Hardaway Jr. and Kessler Edwards, the Nuggets have bolstered their championship aspirations with additional depth for head coach David Adelman.
After spending one season at Arizona in college, Gordon was chosen as the fourth overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Magic. He quickly rose to become one of the team’s key players before heading to Denver in 2021.
