Aaron Gordon Anticipates Thriving Synergy with Nikola Jokic as Nuggets Aim for More Championships

Aaron Gordon is regarded as one of the most reliable teammates for Serbian sensation Nikola Jokic at the Denver Nuggets. In a discussion on ESPN’s NBA Today, coinciding with his 30th birthday on Tuesday, the American power forward reflected on what it’s like to play beside the Joker.

“He’s incredible,” he reiterated a sentiment commonly held among Jokic’s teammates. “Having the chance to play with one of the greatest players, if not the greatest player of all time. The influence that Joker has…”

“I believe we share a strong understanding both on and off the court. Fans will witness that relationship develop,” Gordon remarked as he looked ahead to the 2025-26 season.

In the middle of the 2020-21 season, the San Jose native was traded from the Orlando Magic to the Nuggets. His collaboration with Jokic was not only evident in their championship run during the 2022-23 season but also in the thrilling plays that arose from the creativity of the three-time NBA MVP and 2023 Finals MVP.

This offseason, the Nuggets bolstered their championship prospects by adding Lithuanian center Jonas Valanciunas and Cameron Johnson through trades, reuniting with Bruce Brown, and signing Tim Hardaway Jr. and Kessler Edwards, all of which provided Coach David Adelman with enhanced roster depth.

After spending one season in college at Arizona, Gordon was picked fourth overall in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Magic. He quickly emerged as one of the leaders on the team before making the transition to Denver in 2021.
