Giannis Antetokounmpo Remains Hopeful for NBA Future from Greece Amidst COVID Restrictions

As NBA teams prepare for Media Day leading up to the 2025/26 training camps, Giannis Antetokounmpo was unable to participate in the Milwaukee Bucks’ session.

The Greek superstar remains in Greece, constrained by COVID-19 travel restrictions.

“I’m just waiting for a negative test so I can leave my house and board a plane. I don’t want to put anyone at risk,” Giannis shared via video call, according to Eric Nehm.

He also commented on ongoing speculation regarding his future this summer.

“I’ve always said the same thing throughout my career. I want to be part of a team that offers me the opportunity to win a championship… that will never change. I aspire to be among the best.”

Bucks owner Wes Edens previously revealed a discussion he had with Giannis back in June.

“I had a productive conversation with Giannis in June, where he expressed a strong commitment to Milwaukee. He enjoys being here and appreciates having his family here.”

While Giannis didn’t recall that particular discussion, he reaffirmed his faith in the team and its championship aspirations.

“I have confidence in my teammates. I trust the people around me. I believe in the decisions the organization makes,” Antetokounmpo stated, as reported by Bucks Lead.

Regarding the recent addition of Myles Turner to the team, Giannis remarked:

“He’s one of the big men that we can integrate seamlessly. He’s among the top bigs in the league…. I’m really excited about having him. I think it was a fantastic move.”
