Shaquille ONeal Champions Victor Wembanyama as the NBAs Next Evolution of Big Men

The San Antonio Spurs and Victor Wembanyama are creating quite a buzz with their impressive 5-0 start, and Shaquille O’Neal is already convinced.

During his appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show,” Shaq praised Wemby as a new era in the evolution of big men in the NBA.

He remarked, “Victor Wembanyama is changing the game for big men. While Joker has already set new standards for the position, Wemby is elevating it to new heights: dribbling between his legs, stepping back, and resembling Kevin Durant’s playstyle. He’s performing exceptionally well right now, and I’m excited for him and the San Antonio franchise.”

Shaquille also offered some wisdom to Wemby, advising him to conserve his energy throughout the season: “I would suggest he paces himself. Phil Jackson had a unique approach; during our three consecutive championship wins, he would sometimes come in and say, ‘Hey, take these two games off. I need you to recover. No parties, no rap videos, no commercials—just rest. But when you return, I’m counting on you to drop 40 points.’ Phil excelled at managing my playing time and injury recovery, and he also found ways to keep us away from Utah, which had been a challenge before he arrived.”
