Junior college big Addarin Scott announces commitment to Auburn basketball, Bruce Pearl

AUBURN — Auburn basketball has added a big man.

Addarin Scott, who spent the last two seasons in junior college at Navarro College in Texas, announced his commitment to the Tigers and coach Bruce Pearl via social media Friday. Scott appeared in 31 games with the Bulldogs last season, averaging 9.3 points on 53.1% shooting. He also pulled down 6.8 rebounds per game to go along with 1.3 blocks.

The 6-foot-9 Scott, who originally hails from Dallas, will be the fifth newcomer to Auburn’s roster next season, joining five-star freshman Aden Holloway, former JUCO standout Chad Baker-Mazara and transfers Denver Jones (Florida International) and Chaney Johnson (Alabama-Hunstville).

Scott being from Texas is notable, as Pearl pointed in April to new assistant coach Corey Williams’ ties to the state as a reason he hired him: “The fact that he was most recently from Texas Tech, had spent a lot of time down there,” Pearl said of Williams at an AMBUSH event in April. “With Texas, Oklahoma (joining the conference) and A&M already in the league, I think Texas could be the next place that we might want to go and start to recruit.”

I would like to first thank all the schools & coaches for recruiting me and allowing me to be apart of your program, it was not an easy decision for me but I feel like it’s the best decision for my family and I.
