Precious Achiuwa receiving interest from several contenders, open to Knicks return

The Knicks remain in the market for a big man after losing starting center Isaiah Hartenstein who signed a three-year, $87 million deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Some of the top options have been flying off the board over the first two days of free agency, but a familiar face and New York native remains on the board.

Precious Achiuwa has been receiving interest from several contending teams, but he is still open to returning to the Knicks, according to SNY’s NBA Insider Ian Begley.

The 24-year-old from the Bronx quickly solidified himself as an asset for the Knicks despite being looked at as more of a secondary piece when he was first acquired as part of the OG Anunoby deal.

Achiuwa averaged 7.6 points and 7.2 rebounds while shooting 52 percent from the field and he started 18 of the 49 games he appeared in down the stretch for Tom Thibodeau‘s squad.

New York decided not to extend him a qualifying offer earlier this offseason, but it appears he hasn’t quite closed the door on a potential reunion.
