The Los Angeles Lakers are likely to be one of the busiest teams this offseason as they rebound from a tough first-round exit against the Denver Nuggets this postseason.
The Lakers have been connected to Klay Thompson and Jonas Valanciunas regarding NBA free agency, but Los Angeles is also doing its due diligence in the trade market. Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer reported on Sunday that the Lakers have their eyes on trading for Milwaukee Bucks center Brook Lopez.

Since the Lakers got bounced in the postseason, it’s been no secret that Los Angeles would be interested in adding depth and talent to the frontcourt. Lopez, who was with the Lakers for one season (2017-18), would be a perfect addition alongside Anthony Davis.
However, LA wouldn’t be the only team competing for Lopez’s services as it was reported ahead of the 2024 NBA Draft that multiple Western Conference suitors are interested in trading for the big man.
Jake Fischer also highlighted that Los Angeles has “explored” trade scenarios with multiple players and their contracts such as D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Gabe Vincent.
The 36-year-old Lopez is set to make $23 million this coming season and will be an unrestricted free agent next offseason. The veteran center posted 12.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks in 30.5 minutes per game this season with the Bucks.
Lopez could help stretch the floor with Davis as he shot 36.6 percent from beyond the arc this season and is a solid rim protector. After the big free agents come off the board, it will be fun to see if the Lakers could maneuver a package to get Lopez back in Los Angeles and solidify their frontcourt defense.
