MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – As the Milwaukee Bucks continue looking for ways to retool their team this off-season, another Western Conference team is joining the LA Lakers in pursuing center Brook Lopez.
According to NBA Insider Matt Moore, the San Antonio Spurs are “interested” in trading for Lopez and are looking to trade some of their veteran players, including wing defender Keldon Johnson.
Johnson, a first-round pick in 2019, averaged 15.5 points and 5.5 rebounds a game last season for San Antonio and would be an exciting piece for the Bucks, who are looking to get younger and more athletic. However, Yahoo Sports NBA Insider Jake Fischer reported on Monday that the Lakers have been the team that “has their eye on” Lopez and is willing to deal players such as guard D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, or Jared Vanderbilt to acquire him.
While the trade discussions continue, Milwaukee has looked into signing a possible replacement for Lopez in free agent Daniel Theis, according to The Athletic’s Kelly Iko. Theis has played on several teams in recent years, including the LA Clippers, where he averaged 6.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game last season.
