Memphis basketball will host Arkansas State on Dec. 8 at FedExForum.
The Red Wolves announced the matchup on social media on Wednesday. It’ll be the 18th matchup between the two teams, with Memphis having won 13 of the first 17.
In the last matchup, in 2020, Memphis earned an 83-54 win at FedExForum. Arkansas State hasn’t beaten Memphis since a win in Jonesboro in 1999.
The Tigers’ non-conference schedule is close to being complete. Memphis will play three games in the Maui Invitational (Nov. 25-27) against a field that includes Colorado, North Carolina, Michigan State, Auburn, Iowa State, Dayton and two-time defending national champion UConn. The Tigers will have road games against Virginia, UNLV and Clemson and a neutral site matchup with San Francisco at the Chase Center.
Memphis will also host Missouri and Mississippi State.
The Tigers are hoping to return to the NCAA Tournament after a disappointing 2023-2024 season where Memphis was ranked as high as No. 10 in the country but collapsed during the back half of the season. Coach Penny Hardaway has completely revamped the roster, with only forward Nicolas Jourdain as a scholarship returner.
There will be plenty of new faces, though, including Tulsa transfer P.J. Haggerty, Texas transfer Tyrese Hunter and Illinois transfer Dain Dainja.
