Knicks draft pick Kevin McCullar Jr. to miss Summer League to rehab injury

Knicks rookie Kevin McCullar Jr. will miss the Summer League in Las Vegas this year.

According to SNY’s Ian Begley, the Knicks’ No. 56 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft will stay in New York to continue his rehab on an injury he suffered while at Kansas.

McCullar Jr. missed six of the final 12 games of the regular season, including the Big 12 tournament, while managing a bone bruise on his knee. He also missed the Jayhawk’s entire NCAA tournament run.

The 23-year-old was initially on the Knicks’ 2024 Summer League roster alongside fellow rookies Pacome Dadiet, Tyler Kolek and Ariel Hukporti.

New York will begin Summer League play on Saturday, July 13 against the Charlotte Hornets and wrap up July 19.

McCullar Jr. played in 26 games for the Jayhawks during the 2023-24 season and averaged a career-high in points (18.3) and assists (4.1), while also grabbing 6.0 rebounds per game. He shot 45 percent shooting from the field.
