The North Carolina Tar Heels took a step forward in the recruitment of a big dual-sport recruit in Kendre Harrison.
The Reidsville, North Carolina native is a top 10 football recruit in the 2026 class as well as a top 30 basketball recruit. On Monday, he took a big step forward in his recruitment, narrowing down his list of offers to a final six.
Harrison announced that he would be focusing on UNC, Tennessee, Penn State, Oregon, Florida State, and Miami. That’s huge for North Carolina as they have offered him in football and basketball, hoping to land the prized recruit.
With Harrison announcing his top six, it’s tough to tell where UNC stands but one thing is certain, the offer from the basketball program may have changed things in a big way for the Tar Heels as Rivals reporter Sam Spiegelman pointed out:
North Carolina got the state’s top 2026 prospect back in Chapel Hill last month.
During the visit, Tar Heels basketball HC Hubert Davis extended the pass-catching tight end a hoops scholarship.
“Just having the opportunity to play basketball and football at an amazing program … doing that in my home state, down the road from Reidsville is a blessing,” the No. 1 TE in the country remarked.
“The way they got me the basketball,” he continued. “Coach Hubert Davis and Coach Mack Brown offering me in basketball is definitely an amazing opportunity. It’s an amazing time in my life and it’s something I’ll never forget — how they did it and that they showed a lot of love. The main thing that I had a smile on my face.”
Harrison will visit Oregon at the end of July and likely will take more visits this Fall. He’s already been on UNC’s campus a handful of times in his recruitment and likely will be back.
Having the opportunity to play for a big-time basketball program could be the difference maker in this recruitment.
