Purdue men’s basketball finalizes non-league schedule

WEST LAFAYETTE — The Purdue men’s basketball team’s 2024-25 non-conference schedule is locked in.

A season after owning the nation’s toughest non-conference schedule among power-conference teams, Purdue once again has loaded up. Five opponents reached the NCAA Tournament last season — Yale, Alabama, Marquette, Auburn and Texas A&M. In addition, possible Rady Children’s Invitational opponents BYU and N.C. State also reached the tournament. Purdue beat N.C. State in the Final Four.

Purdue opens with four straight home games — vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Nov. 4), Northern Kentucky (Nov. 8), Yale (Nov. 11) and Alabama (Nov. 15). Purdue visits Marquette on Nov. 19 and returns home to face Marshall (Nov. 23) before playing in the Rady Children’s Invitational on Nov. 28-29 in San Diego.

After that, Purdue faces Texas A&M in the Indy Classic on Dec. 14 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the Boilers take on Auburn on Dec. 21 in Birmingham, Alabama, and the Boilers host defending MAC regular-season champion Toldeo on Dec. 29.

All told, Purdue will face as many as four teams that finished in the NET’s top 15 in 2023-24. The schedule features as many as seven games against KenPom top-100 teams and just one opponent that finished outside the top 200.

The Big Ten portion of the schedule will be announced later.

The 2023-24 Boilermakers posted a 34-5 record, won the Big Ten regular-season title and finished as national runners-up. Three starters are scheduled to return in addition to three other players who played at least 31 games this past season. Coach Matt Painter also welcomes a five-member recruiting class that is ranked among the top 10 nationally.
