The Nets are trading for Memphis Grizzlies small forward Ziaire Williams and a 2030 second-round pick in return for power forward Mamadi Diakite, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Williams is a former first-round draft pick, selected 10th overall by Memphis in the 2021 NBA Draft after spending one year at Stanford.
The 22-year-old spent the last three seasons with the Grizzlies and appeared in 150 games (50 starts). During that time, Williams averaged 7.5 points on 42.6 percent shooting to go along with 2.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists.
The small forward averaged 19.6 minutes per game and shot 30.1 percent from three-point range and knocked down 80.3 percent of his free throws.
Williams will likely slot behind starter Cam Johnson and will fight for minutes with Jalen Wilson.
As for what Brooklyn sent in return, the Nets are losing Diakite whom they received from the Knicks in the Mikal Bridges trade earlier this offseason.
Diakite, 27, has played parts of four seasons in the NBA for five different teams. The 6-foot-9, 230-pounder has averaged 3.1 points and 2.3 rebounds across 55 games (six starts).
The 2030 second-round pick Brooklyn also received in the deal is by way of the Dallas Mavericks.
