The votes are in: See where Oregon landed in the preseason men’s basketball media poll

Oregon’s Jackson Shelstad, center, celebrates with teammates after sinking the game-winning shot in overtime against Michigan last December, Shelstad was named to the all-Big Ten Conference preseason second team Wednesday.

Jackson Shelstad’s reputation as a playmaker on the rise is following him to the Big Ten Conference.

The sophomore point guard for the Oregon men’s basketball team was named to the preseason all-Big Ten second team on Wednesday in a vote by 33 media members who cover the conference. The poll was a joint project between The Columbus Dispatch and The Indianapolis Star.

Shelstad averaged 12.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists last season for an Oregon team that went 24-12, won the Pac-12 Tournament and lost in double overtime to Creighton in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Ducks were picked to finish sixth in the 18-team conference, behind projected champion Purdue — the 2023-24 national runner up — then Indiana, UCLA, Illinois and Michigan State.

The Ducks’ season begins Nov. 4 against UC Riverside at Matthew Knight Arena.
