Marquette’s Kam Jones voted as one of the best players in Big East in preason poll

Marquette men’s basketball guard Kam Jones is finally seen as one of the best players in the Big East conference.

At the league’s media day Wednesday in New York, the coaches voted Jones to the preseason all-Big East first team.

Jones, a 6-foot-5 senior, did not even earn honorable mention all-Big East last season despite averaging 17.2 points per game, the fourth-highest in the conference. Jones did make the all-Big East tournament team.

Creighton’s Ryan Kalkbrenner was named the Big East preseason player of the year and Connecticut’s Liam McNeeley freshman of the year.

Jones was joined on the first team by Connecticut’s Alex Karaban, Providence’s Bryce Hopkins, St. John’s Kadary Richmond and Villanova’s Eric Dixon.
