The Detroit Pistons approached their home game against the Denver Nuggets feeling upbeat, bolstered by an impressive eight-game winning streak. Nevertheless, Nikola Jokic had other plans.
With a remarkable performance, he secured his 28th triple-double of the 2024-25 NBA Regular Season, posting 23 points, 17 rebounds, and 15 assists—an achievement never seen before in an NBA contest, as per the analytics platform StatHead. This impressive output was instrumental in his team’s 134-119 victory on the road.
“[The Detroit Pistons] are playing really well and assertively, but we maintained our composure. We shot effectively, controlled the game, and matched their physicality,” he remarked about the pivotal factors behind their success.
“I aimed to simply play my game without forcing anything. I just put in the effort, as I have for the past decade,” Jokic reflected on yet another triple-double this season.
Currently, Nikola Jokic is in the running for his fourth NBA MVP award, averaging a triple-double of 29.2 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 10.4 assists per game.
For the Pistons, Simone Fontecchio contributed 12 points off the bench, shooting 4/7 from the field. Meanwhile, Dennis Schroder chipped in with 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists, following his European teammate.
