MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP)— Two-time All-Star Jaren Jackson Jr. is currently listed as week-to-week due to a sprained left ankle he sustained just minutes into the Grizzlies’ latest defeat.

The team announced on Tuesday that Jackson is dealing with a Grade 2 sprain. He exited the contest against Atlanta with 10:21 remaining in the first quarter of Monday’s 132-130 loss. The Grizzlies will release additional updates as needed.

This injury comes at a particularly challenging time for Memphis, as the team is on a three-game losing streak and has dropped six of their last eight contests. They have fallen from second to fourth place in the Western Conference standings, trailing both the Lakers and Denver by one game. The Grizzlies are set to face Oklahoma, the current top seed in the West, on Wednesday night, concluding a five-game homestand.

The speed of Jackson’s recovery may also affect his chances for a second NBA Defensive Player of the Year award. He has participated in 59 of the Grizzlies’ 61 games so far, with 21 games remaining in the season. To qualify for the award, he needs to play in at least 65 games this year.
