After experiencing a defeat at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Giannis Antetokounmpo encouraged his teammates to refrain from adding undue pressure while playing.
The Cavaliers emerged victorious with a score of 112-100 at the Fiserv Forum, marking their 14th consecutive win. This result unfortunately placed the Milwaukee Bucks at their second loss in a row, bringing their record to 36-27 in the ongoing 2024-25 NBA Regular Season.
“It’s important to sometimes share the ball among each other, but other times, you need to focus on getting it to the basket,” Giannis stated regarding the need for ball movement. “We were overanalyzing things; we just need to continue doing what was working for us.”
“Play with happiness, play freely, and maintain a positive spirit—then good things will come our way,” the 30-year-old star expressed during a press briefing following the NBA Sunday matchup.
Giannis finished the game with 30 points, shooting 13 out of 24 from the field and converting 4 out of 8 free-throw attempts. By surpassing Tom Chambers on Sunday, he ascended to 50th place on the NBA’s all-time scoring leaderboard.
Initially marked as probable to participate because of a left calf strain, Giannis managed to play nearly 34 minutes, contributing nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals in addition to his 30 points.
In the Smoothie King Center, the Memphis Grizzlies narrowly defeated the New Orleans Pelicans, 107-104, while Spanish player Santi Aldama was sidelined due to a right calf strain. For the Pelicans, Croatian Karlo Matkovic recorded a double-double with 13 points, 11 rebounds, as well as one block, one assist, and one steal across 26 minutes on the court.
