SAN FRANCISCO (AP)— Stephen Curry has officially entered an elite group as the 26th player in NBA history to achieve 25,000 career points. He accomplished this feat during the third quarter of the Golden State Warriors’ 115-110 win against the Detroit Pistons on Saturday evening.
“BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!” Curry exclaimed while making his way down the hallway to the locker room after a brief return to the court postgame.
This enthusiastic shout was a nod to his teammate Draymond Green, who has a penchant for yelling “boom” after sinking a 3-pointer and had given the Warriors the lead with a 3-pointer just 35 seconds before. Green also made sure to keep the game ball for Curry.
On the verge of turning 37 next Friday, Curry reached the 25,000-point milestone with a 3-pointer at the 8:32 mark of the third quarter, earning a heartfelt standing ovation during a timeout with 5:42 left in the game.

Curry capped the night with 32 points—bringing his career total to 25,017—shooting 8-for-22 from the field and hitting all 12 of his free throw attempts.
His next significant milestone is to become the first player in NBA history to sink 4,000 3-pointers. On Saturday, he made four and now requires just seven more to reach this goal.
“It’s unbelievable, just unbelievable,” said coach Steve Kerr. “It feels like he’s made 25,000 3s, honestly. He’s explosive. Night after night, and even though today wasn’t one of his better shooting performances, I admired how he pushed through fatigue and a tough defense, getting to the line 12 times. He was outstanding on a night when his shot wasn’t falling. That’s the hallmark of a truly great player.”
