In their inaugural clash following Luka Doncic’s transition to the Los Angeles Lakers, Giannis Antetokounmpo emerged victorious.
Despite Doncic’s impressive 45-point performance, the Milwaukee Bucks secured a solid lead in the latter part of the contest, putting an end to their three-game losing streak with a 126-106 win at Fiserv Forum on Thursday during the 2024-25 NBA Regular Season.
Initially listed as questionable due to a left calf strain, the Greek star achieved a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds, just one assist short of a triple-double. In 30 minutes of action, he shot 8 for 17 from the field and converted 8 of 13 free-throw attempts, adding one block and one steal to his stat line.
With LeBron James sidelined for a second consecutive game due to a left groin strain, Doncic was cleared to play despite lingering right ankle discomfort and logged nearly 36 minutes on the court. He efficiently hit 14 of 27 shots, including seven three-pointers, equaling his highest scoring performance with the Lakers.
In a post-game press conference, Doncic emphasized the importance of team success, saying, “Nothing matters if we lose the game. It’s a team sport, and we need to be all together. Whatever somebody does is great, but at the end of the day, you have to win. We didn’t accomplish that tonight.”
The Ljubljana native contributed to his double-double by grabbing 11 rebounds and also recorded three assists, two steals, and one block, although he did commit six turnovers.
Despite the setback against Giannis and the Bucks, Luka was nothing short of spectacular!

When asked about the possibility of sitting out the latter half of a back-to-back against the Denver Nuggets and Serbian Nikola Jokic at Ball Arena on Friday, he replied, “I don’t know yet.”
In his first starting appearance for the Lakers, Ukrainian Alex Len contributed two points, three rebounds, and one assist over 19 minutes. German player Maxi Kleber remained unavailable as he continues to recover from foot surgery.
