Giannis Antetokounmpo achieved a triple-double, but it wasn’t enough to secure a victory for the Milwaukee Bucks during NBA Sunday games.
Despite battling through a nasal fracture, Isaiah Hartenstein scored a career-high 24 points, propelling the Oklahoma City Thunder to a convincing 121-105 win at Fiserv Forum.
“I tend to focus more on my assists at times,” the 26-year-old German center modestly remarked about his personal record during a postgame press conference after the triumph in Milwaukee.
In 32 minutes as the starting center under coach Mark Daigneault, Hartenstein converted 11 of 15 field goal attempts. His 24 points came in support of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s impressive 31 points. Additionally, he secured 12 rebounds, marking his 25th double-double of the 2024-25 Regular Season, and contributed three assists.
The Thunder’s European roster options were further constrained by injuries. French player Ousmane Dieng is sidelined with a left calf strain, while Belgian Ajay Mitchell and Serbian Nikola Topic are in recovery after surgeries on their great toe and left knee, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Greek star of the Bucks, who is listed as probable due to right knee tendinopathy, finished the game with 21 points, 12 rebounds, and two assists, achieving his 52nd career triple-double in nearly 36 minutes of play, along with two blocks and one steal.
“They’re a very disciplined team. They maintained that for the full 48 minutes,” he commented on the loss. “Against a team like that, you have to keep searching for openings, remain aggressive, and look to create opportunities for both yourself and your teammates.”
