Headline: Sabonis Faces Injury Woes as Buzelis Shines in Bulls Victory Over Jazz

It was a difficult evening for Domantas Sabonis, who experienced a troubling laceration above his left eye before injuring his right ankle during the third quarter, prompting an early exit from the game.

The 28-year-old Lithuanian center managed to play just 12 minutes, yet the Sacramento Kings triumphed over the Memphis Grizzlies with a score of 132-122 at the Golden 1 Center.

In his limited playing time, Sabonis contributed six points, four assists, and one rebound. Meanwhile, fellow Lithuanian, Jonas Valanciunas, had a solid performance with eight points, five rebounds, three blocks, and three assists in 16 minutes of play.

On the opposing side, Spanish player Santi Aldama missed his sixth consecutive game due to a right calf strain during the ongoing 2024-25 NBA Regular Season.

In other Lithuanian action at the Delta Center, 20-year-old Matas Buzelis delivered an impressive performance with 17 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and one block, helping the Chicago Bulls defeat the Utah Jazz, 111-97.

“I’m just attempting to make the right decisions,” he noted during a media session after the game in Salt Lake City on Monday. “If I see someone closing out, I drive to the basket. If they don’t, I take the shot.”

Buzelis elaborated on the team’s mindset as they vie for a position in the Play-Ins: “We are concentrating on the present moment. We will keep putting in the effort, striving for victories, and savoring the experience.”

Montenegrin teammate Nikola Vucevic added a double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, one block, and one steal.

Despite dealing with discomfort in his right ankle, Finnish player Lauri Markkanen played 23 minutes for the Jazz, scoring 16 points along with two rebounds, one block, and one assist. Ukrainian Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk did not participate in the game.
