Renewing his commitment to community service and assisting those in need, Domantas Sabonis is spearheading an initiative to raise awareness and support for families impacted by the California Wildfires.
For every 40 rebounds that the 28-year-old Lithuanian forward/center, playing for the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center, collects, a contribution of $2,500 will be made, leading to a total of $100,000.
“Domantas and Shashana Sabonis are launching an in-game campaign to generate awareness and funds for the countless families affected by the California Wildfires.”
Starting from March 17, the Sabonis family will pledge $2,500 for each rebound Domantas secures during Sacramento Kings’ home games until he reaches the milestone of 40 rebounds, aiming for a total donation of $100,000. Contributions will be directed to organizations making an impact in Los Angeles, including Baby2Baby, World Central Kitchen, the LA Fire Department Foundation, and the Humane Society. Through this initiative, Domantas encourages his supporters and Sacramento Kings fans to join him in backing these organizations and taking steps to aid the rebuilding efforts in Southern California.

This innovative plan was announced on Monday, shortly before Sabonis had to leave a home game against the Memphis Grizzlies early due to a right ankle injury, having recorded just one rebound in 12 minutes of play.
The Kings will play their next six games in Sacramento during the 2024-25 NBA Regular Season, hosting the Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Portland Trail Blazers at the Golden 1 Center until March 27.
