The Hawks announced on Friday that the MRI results indicated a ligament injury affecting the fourth metacarpal in Capela’s hand. He is expected to undergo evaluation in three to four weeks. The team’s last regular-season match is set for April 13 against Orlando.
Capela, 30, lost his position as a starter to Onyeka Okongwu in mid-January. Throughout 55 games this season, including 41 as a starter, he has averaged 8.9 points and 8.5 rebounds, following a streak of eight seasons with double-digit scoring. For his career, he has maintained averages of 12 points and 10.5 rebounds.
Currently, the Hawks hold the seventh position in the Eastern Conference and are in a favorable position for the play-in tournament.
