The Washington Wizards claimed victory against the Philadelphia 76ers while playing away from home, showcasing the talents of three former Real Madrid players on the court.
Alex Sarr, who spent two seasons with the youth team of the renowned Spanish club, stood out for the Wizards, receiving support from fellow Madrid alum Tristan Vukcevic as they faced off against Guerschon Yabusele and the 76ers.
Vukcevic, a former Partizan player, continued to impress in the NBA, and afterward, he shared his thoughts on sharing the court with Sarr.
“Absolutely, our height gives us an advantage. With two players at seven feet on the floor, it really impacts the game. We have big hands and long arms, which contribute to our size. It allows us to guard the paint effectively, making it hard for opponents to score easily. When players approach the paint and see two seven-footers, they hesitate to go for the finish. That definitely plays a significant role,” Vukcevic explained.
He reminisced about their time together in Madrid, mentioning Yabusele, who has also made a mark for the 76ers.
“He was my mentor in Europe, and we chatted about this moment in Madrid about four years ago. Now, both of us are in the NBA—it’s surreal. He made an impressive return and has been a great help to me. Before I arrived here, he shared insights about the NBA, giving me a clearer picture of what to expect. And, of course, that’s my guy,” concluded Tristan Vukcevic.
This season, Vukcevic has played 27 games for the Wizards, averaging 7.8 points and 3.3 rebounds.
