Doncic Declares Off Night ‘Unacceptable’ as Warriors Best Lakers in Intense Matchup

In what could be an early glimpse of a matchup in the 2025 NBA Playoffs sponsored by Google, the Golden State Warriors triumphed over the Los Angeles Lakers with a score of 123-116.

Luka Doncic struggled on the night, shooting 6 for 17 from the floor and failing to convert any of his six attempts from three-point range. The Slovenian star ended the game with 19 points, eight boards, seven assists, and one block at the crypto.com Arena.

“That level of play from me isn’t acceptable. When I perform like that, it complicates things for the team,” he admitted following his team’s 46-30 setback in the 2024-25 Regular Season. “I need to find a solution.”

“It’s not solely about scoring. There’s a lot else you can contribute on the court, including rebounding and defense. I can make an impact in those areas as well,” the Ljubljana native remarked during the postgame press conference.

Despite the disappointing loss to the Warriors, Maxi Kleber made strides in his return to on-court activity, as was revealed prior to Thursday’s contest. The German forward has been out of action since undergoing foot surgery on January 30, just days before being traded from the Dallas Mavericks alongside Doncic.

Another European option for head coach JJ Redick, Ukrainian Alex Len, was available but has not seen game action for six consecutive contests.

For the Warriors, Quinten Post, making a brief appearance off the bench with nearly 15 minutes of play, scored four points, dished out three assists, and grabbed one rebound.

After an explosive 52-point performance against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday, Stephen Curry contributed 37 points, while Brandin Podziemski added 28.
