76ers Star Joel Embiid Undergoes Knee Surgery As Injury Woes Continue for Philadelphia

(AP) — On Wednesday, Joel Embiid, the center for the Philadelphia 76ers, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, with the team announcing he will be assessed again in approximately six weeks.

Embiid previously had meniscus surgery on February 6, 2024, following an incident in which Golden State forward Jonathan Kuminga landed on his leg. Although the 2023 league MVP made a comeback for the playoffs, he was unable to regain full fitness.

This season, Embiid played in 19 games, averaging 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists before being sidelined.

Injuries have seriously plagued the 76ers this season. Tyrese Maxey broke a finger and has not played since March 3, while Paul George participated in just 41 games before being ruled out for the remainder of the season after receiving injections in his left groin and left knee.
