Similar to his compatriot and the former No. 1 overall selection in the last NBA Draft, Victor Wembanyama, Zaccharie Risacher will not participate in the Playoffs during his rookie year.
The Atlanta Hawks came tantalizingly close, ultimately falling to the Miami Heat in overtime with a score of 123-114, which ends their season here.
Regrettably, the French prospect had a challenging outing, contributing merely 3 points and 2 steals, likely experiencing one of his toughest shooting performances since joining the NBA. He finished the game shooting just 1 out of 11 from the field, including a dismal 0 for 7 from beyond the arc.
Guided by Tyler Herro’s impressive 30 points, the Heat are set to face the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Despite strong efforts from Trae Young, who scored 29 points and dished out 11 assists, along with Onyeka Okongwu’s 28 points and 12 rebounds, the Hawks couldn’t clinch a victory in the final phase of the Play-In Tournament.
As the potential No. 1 selection in the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft, Risacher is still in the Rookie of the Year consideration alongside San Antonio’s Stephon Castle and Washington’s Alex Sarr. He concluded his inaugural NBA season, averaging 12.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game while playing for Atlanta.
