Boston Celtics shooting guard Payton Pritchard has been honored with the John Havlicek Trophy as the 2024-25 Kia NBA Sixth Man of the Year, recognizing his significant impact in a bench role.

This marks Pritchard’s first time receiving the Kia NBA Sixth Man of the Year award. He joins an elite group of Celtics players who have won this accolade, including Kevin McHale (1983-84 and 1984-85), Bill Walton (1985-86), and Malcolm Brogdon (2022-23).

In his fifth season, the 6-foot-1 Pritchard recorded personal bests with averages of 14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists over 28.4 minutes in 80 games (three as a starter). He achieved a career-high in field goal percentage, hitting 47.2% from the floor, and was successful on 40.7% of his three-point attempts. His total of 1,079 points coming off the bench led the entire NBA.

Pritchard ranked fifth among all players in the league for the number of three-pointers made, finishing with a career-high of 255, which stands as the second-highest total in a single season in Celtics history. Additionally, he set an NBA record for the most three-pointers made from the bench in a single season with 246, having made his other nine while starting.

Through his efforts, the Celtics finished the regular season with a record of 61-21, ending up with the third-best record in the NBA and earning the second playoff seed in the Eastern Conference.

To qualify for the Kia NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award, a player must have appeared in more games off the bench than as a starter.
