Rockets Sengun Shines in First Playoff Victory, Proclaims: We’ve Seen the Bottom, Now We’re Rising

Alperen Sengun delivered a double-double performance as the Houston Rockets triumphed over the Golden State Warriors, 109-94, at Toyota Center.

Building a significant 20-point lead, the squad led by Ime Udoka equalized the best-of-seven series in the Western Conference Quarterfinals of the 2025 NBA Playoffs presented by Google at one game apiece.

The 22-year-old Turkish center scored 17 points with six successful field goals out of 15 attempts in Game 2. Logging almost 37 minutes in his inaugural playoff victory, Sengun also contributed 16 rebounds, seven assists, and two steals.

“We earned this. Our journey has been long, and we’ve experienced tough times. Now, we’re facing one of the league’s finest teams. Achieving our first win feels fantastic, and we are excited to continue our growth,” he stated during the postgame press conference after Wednesday’s game.

Jalen Green was impressive, scoring 38 points. “When he performs well, we all play better. We support him with defense and other aspects. Our roles are clear; he scores, and that makes a significant impact,” remarked Sengun.

For the Warriors, Quinten Post scored 12 points, including four three-pointers, alongside two rebounds, a steal, and an assist.

On the injury front, coach Steve Kerr faced challenges as Jimmy Butler exited the game early with a pelvis contusion and is set to undergo an MRI on Thursday.

In other playoff matchups, the Cleveland Cavaliers lead the Miami Heat 2-0 (121-100, 121-112), the Boston Celtics are up 2-0 against the Orlando Magic (103-86, 109-100), while the New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons are tied at 1-1 (123-112, 94-100).
