The NBA has formally announced that the Dallas Mavericks and Detroit Pistons will face off in the 34th game to be held in Mexico.
Scheduled for November 1, the NBA Mexico City Game 2025 will take place at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, aligning with the renowned Dia de Muertos festivities for the second year in a row, as disclosed on Tuesday.
Rick Welts, the CEO of the Mavericks, expressed, “We are incredibly proud that the Mavericks franchise and our fans embody the growing international appeal of basketball and the NBA. The lively atmosphere of Mexico City and the enthusiasm of its supporters make it an ideal setting for these Global Games. We are excited about the opportunity to represent the NBA and Dallas in Mexico City for the eighth time.”
Trajan Langdon, the Pistons’ president of basketball operations and a two-time EuroLeague champion, stated, “The Detroit Pistons are thrilled to participate in the NBA Mexico City Game 2025 next season. Competing in a regular-season match in Mexico City will be a tremendous experience for our players and coaches. We are eager to display Detroit Basketball to a global audience and an enthusiastic, expanding NBA fanbase.”
Raul Zarraga, the senior vice president of NBA Latin America and head of operations, added, “The Mavericks and Pistons are two dynamic teams with a blend of seasoned veterans and emerging talents. We look forward to welcoming them back to Mexico while once again celebrating Dia de Muertos with passionate NBA fans from Mexico and throughout Latin America.”
