Mavs and Pistons Set to Make History: NBA Returns to Mexico City Amid Día de Muertos Celebrations

MEXICO CITY, June 10, 2025 – Today, Zignia Live and the National Basketball Association (NBA) revealed that the NBA Mexico City Game 2025 will see the Dallas Mavericks face off against the Detroit Pistons in a regular-season match. This event will take place at Arena CDMX in Mexico City on Saturday, November 1, with Zignia Live as the host.

This game will be significant as it marks the NBA’s 34th appearance in Mexico since 1992, making it the country with the highest number of NBA games played outside the U.S. and Canada. This year, the game will also align with the local “Día de Muertos” (Day of the Dead) festivities for the second consecutive year. Fans can expect to see a variety of themed elements in the arena, including a specially designed basketball court and multiple engagement activities tailored to the Day of the Dead.

The Mavericks, participating in their eighth game in Mexico, boast a lineup that includes 10-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis, nine-time All-Star Kyrie Irving, and four-time champion Klay Thompson. They currently hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft presented by State Farm. Conversely, the Pistons are making their third trip to Mexico. They made headlines last season with one of the largest turnarounds in league history and returned to the NBA Playoffs for the first time since 2016. Their roster is headlined by 2025 NBA All-Star and All-NBA Third Team member Cade Cunningham, along with emerging talents like Jalen Duren, Jaden Ivey, Ausar Thompson, and Isaiah Stewart.

Fans around the globe will be able to watch the NBA Mexico City Game 2025 live, as the broadcast will reach over 200 countries and territories through television, digital platforms, and social media. In collaboration with its partners, the league will also carry out community outreach initiatives under NBA Cares, run youth and coach development programs like Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA, and offer interactive activities to immerse fans in the NBA experience while in Mexico City.

A variety of marketing partners, such as Emirates, Jordan Brand, Michelob Ultra, PlayStation, and Tissot, will support the game and related events.
