Utah Jazz Strengthen Frontcourt with Acquisition of Veteran Center Jusuf Nurkić in Trade Deal

The Utah Jazz have officially signed Bosnian center Jusuf Nurkić in a trade with the Charlotte Hornets, sending guard Collin Sexton and a second-round pick in the 2030 draft in return, as reported by Shams Charania and Jake Fischer.

At 30 years old, Nurkić adds a level of toughness and valuable veteran know-how to Utah’s frontcourt, joining Walker Kessler and rookie Kyle Filipowski in the center rotation.

Last season, he averaged 8.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists over the course of 51 games with the Phoenix Suns and Charlotte Hornets.

Both Nurkić and Sexton are set to have their contracts expire at the end of the 2025/26 season and will be eligible for contract extensions this summer. If they do not negotiate new deals, they will become unrestricted free agents in 2026.
