Greek basketball sensation Giannis Antetokounmpo experienced an unforgettable summer, securing a bronze medal with his national team at the 2025 EuroBasket.
Although he was unable to attend the Milwaukee Bucks’ media day due to a COVID-19 infection, he eventually returned to the U.S. to kick off his preseason training in Miami.
As noted by Eric Nehm, Antetokounmpo participated in practice today with the Bucks in Florida. Head coach Doc Rivers shared an update regarding his condition, indicating that Giannis was involved only in non-contact drills and would likely require about three days before fully rejoining the team on the court.
“Clearly, I think it has affected my body,” Antetokounmpo remarked after Saturday’s practice, according to the Athletic. “I’m not yet at 100 percent in terms of my physical condition. It’s a matter of taking it one day at a time and getting back into shape. I was able to do some 5-on-0 drills and run a little. I expect to feel better tomorrow. With 18 days until the first game, I believe I’ll be alright.”
In the previous season, Antetokounmpo posted impressive averages of 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists over 67 regular-season NBA games.
