Matas Buzelis made a notable impression during the Chicago Bulls’ NBA Preseason 2025 opener, scoring a game-high 19 points in a thrilling 118-117 win against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Rocket Arena.

The revitalized Lithuanian combo forward displayed both aggression and efficiency as he kicked off his second year in the league on Tuesday, shooting 7-for-11 from the floor while also contributing eight rebounds, one block, and one assist in just over 18 minutes of play. His fellow starter, Montenegrin Nikola Vucevic, played for 19 minutes, recording three points and six rebounds. Off the bench, French player Noa Essengue added eight points and five rebounds in 13 minutes of action.

For the Cavaliers, Dutch player Tristan Enaruna participated in the entire fourth quarter, finishing with three points and one rebound. French athlete Killian Hayes recorded two points, two assists, and one steal. Following this initial encounter for both teams in Cleveland, the Bulls and Cavaliers are set to clash again on Thursday in Chicago’s United Center.

In another closely contested preseason match at Target Center, the Indiana Pacers narrowly defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves in overtime, 135-134. Rudy Gobert, starting for the Timberwolves, contributed five points, four rebounds, one block, and one steal. His French teammate Joan Beringer scored four points, while Italian Donte DiVincenzo chipped in with three points.

The series of exhibition games will continue until next Friday, leading up to the Regular Season commencement on October 21. The Bulls will begin their season at home against the Detroit Pistons, while the Cavaliers will face the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, and the Timberwolves will take on the Portland Trail Blazers at the Moda Center on October 22.
