European Superstars Reign Supreme in NBA GM Survey, Highlighting Global Dominance

As the NBA season approaches, General Managers from all teams have once again taken part in a comprehensive 50-question survey.

The findings are in, and despite covering a range of topics, one conclusion is unmistakable: European stars are the driving force in the premier basketball league globally.

Nikola Jokic stands out as the overwhelming favorite to secure the 2025-26 Kia MVP award, garnering an impressive 67% of the vote. Other notable players receiving mentions include Luka Dončić (10%), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (8%), and Victor Wembanyama (7%), all of whom hail from Europe rather than the United States. Jokic’s dominance is reflected in the survey, where he topped several categories, including which player compels rival coaches to make the most strategic changes (57%), who is regarded as the top center in the NBA (97%), who is considered the best international player (93%), who excels as a passer (80%), and who possesses the highest basketball IQ (80%).

His close friend, Luka Doncic, emerged as the leading small forward in the league, receiving 40% of the votes. Doncic also appeared in multiple categories, ranking fourth (10% of votes) for the player forcing the most adjustments from opposing coaches, and coming in second place in both the best point guard (17% of votes) and the best passer categories.

Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to hold his position as the top power forward in the league, securing 93% of the votes, and shares the title of the most versatile player in the NBA with Wembanyama. Additionally, the Greek superstar ranked third in the survey for the most versatile defender in the league.

Looking towards the future, Victor Wembanyama is already making his mark, receiving accolades for being the most versatile player, as well as the preferred choice for GMs to lead a new franchise (83%). Furthermore, he was voted the best defensive player in the NBA (80%) and the best interior defender (80%).
