Luka Dončić Emphasizes Need for Increased Physicality Following Preseason Struggles

Luka Dončić and the Los Angeles Lakers concluded their preseason with a tight loss to the Sacramento Kings, finishing their preparatory games with a record of 1–5.

The Slovenian sensation showcased his skills once again, scoring 31 points and dishing out nine assists. Following the match, he shared his thoughts on the team’s current state and areas that require attention as they prepare for the 2025/26 season.

“Clearly, practice has a different dynamic. I feel that during practice, we engage in a more physical manner. Like I mentioned, we need to enhance our physicality,” Luka stated at the post-game press conference.

He also noted that there is still progress to be made, particularly with LeBron James currently out due to injury.

“There are times when we’ll have a smaller lineup, and other times a larger one. We have some aspects to address — particularly in terms of our physical presence,” he added.

The Los Angeles Lakers are set to kick off their season against the Golden State Warriors on October 21.
